After taking my coffee from the Starbucks barista I waited to add milk, watching a young employee casually refilling the napkins, oblivious to the line forming behind him.
As we inched forward my coffee licked the lid. The employee finally stepped to the side, watching as each customer performed their science-like experiment, a little sugar, milk, cinnamon, more milk, and when it was my turn I carefully tipped a bit of coffee into the rabbit hole on the counter, where the previous customer had just spilled their too-high coffee as well.
He continued watching and I said, "I hope I didn't splash you" as I wiped the counter with a napkin, and without the slightest hint of hesitation he replied, "That's what sinks are made for." Really?
