Aloha Sugar?

In the spirit of continuity I thought an update concerning our sugar intake might be in order. And when I say "less," I mean we are eating a smaller amount, but have not completely ruled out an exceptional treat.

I have had an easier time, only because I'm a salty, crunchy, peanuts, chip, kind of gal. Although I may crave an occasional donut, I haven't had one in months. Husband on the other hand, well, lets just say it's been a slow adjustment. Baby steps.

We replaced his routine breakfast of cottage cheese with pineapple, which was surprisingly loaded with sugar, with plain cottage cheese and fresh berries. He no longer eats yogurt that is loaded with sugar for lunch. These changes took some time, but slowly Husband admitted to having more energy. And let me say that food shopping has become somewhat of a part-time job, but one I relish, because I feel as though I am contributing something, short of finding the cure for Parkinson's Disease.

Slip-ups are inevitable. Husband went to Hawaii on business recently, quite an accomplishment after missing the trip last year. However, he arrived home with Honolulu Cookies, from the Honolulu Cookie Company which are exceptionally delicious, and Big Island Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Milk Chocolate Covered Brownies, equally difficult to resist. 😭

I've hidden them under bags of flax seeds, farro and wheat berries. He will never look there.
