Writing Time?

My writing contract seems to be causing some anxiety for family and friends.  Trying to figure out the right time to call or text me is a guessing game.

I like to write in the morning, after I've checked in with Daughter, walked, called my mother-in-law, showered, fed the cats, watered my basil plant and set the oven timer for two hours.

Except, while speaking to Mother-in-law today, she was aghast over the news that winning Olympic athletes have to pay taxes on the cost of their medals.  Hmmm...news to me.

"Can't you Google to find out if it's true?"  I rue the day I told her about Google.

"After I write I'll check," I promised her.  She was almost inconsolable.  "I can't believe I've lived this long and never knew this."  (I could just picture her shaking her fist in the air.)

I better nip this in the bud before Mother-in-law implodes.

Google confirms this information.

I spend another fifteen minutes on the phone talking her down from the ledge.  She just can't wrap her mind around this news.

"But Mom, now you know something most people don't."  And with that she was off the phone, presumably to make a few calls.

And I finally got down to writing.
