Knobs of Many Colors

Our home renovation is coming along. The walls are painted and new kitchen cabinets are going in. I am beginning to feel this house belongs to us, the residual remnants of it's previous owners slowly fading away. Oddly, no one noticed until recently the doors have different knobs of varying finishes, styles and sizes; something we can always change.

For now the garage is a storage room of old kitchen appliances, cabinets, bathroom counter tops, carpeting, lighting fixtures and assorted odds and ends to be donated.

Yesterday our contractor told us he had given the carpeting to a family who had been living on a concrete floor. The kitchen cabinets were given to a woman who had no cabinets at all.

And it made me think better of changing those mismatched knobs, that are attached to newly painted doors, in a newly painted house, with new kitchen cabinets and shiny new wood floors.

Just maybe, they would better serve as a reminder of all that we have and all that we should always be grateful for.
