Husband put together one white shelving unit in the empty living room of our new, yet to be moved in house...hmmm....I thought to myself. Does this look good, as good as Ina Garten's?
We carried it carefully into the pantry. I stood back and put two newly purchased baskets on the middle shelf. "What do you think?" Husband gave it a conciliatory glance. "Whatever you want." I know what that means. It's man code for "I don't like it." Bless him. As he opened the second box he called me over. "This box says 5 Tier Shelving, but look, it's a shoe organizer." What? Perhaps this is a sign.
I so wanted the finesse of Garten's pantry. But, I must confess, the white unit was seemingly lost in translation against our white painted walls. After putting my life at risk...alas, stainless is a better choice; last Thursday's excursion apparently an exercise in futility. Oh, the best laid plans!
And so I will return the "Ina" looking baskets I purchased, putting the cart before the horse. There's a bit of freedom in this, I suppose. Still inspired by her, I can add my own touches and now I don't have to travel the Internet or interstate, for that matter, hunting down that striped pantry rug of hers! Although, I am loving the sea grass rug under her dining table...
