Stolen Sweets, Ice Cream and a Summer Memory

Alas, I am not a blogger with as much regularity as I would like.    But, here's a recap of my world so far this week.  A well dressed woman, 60ish, after signing in at the front desk at the doctor's office yesterday took all the biscotti, (individually wrapped), from the hospitality bar, (I know, it's a really nice office!), and threw them into her hand bag. They must be good I thought to myself.  But, I'll never know because of her blatant thievery.

Mother-in-law's toilet seat came loose and she fell to the floor.  No worries, she's good.  She was more worried about missing her card game, which is always a barometer of her health at any given moment.  "There almost wasn't a game," she said, rather matter of fact, "because Margo had diarrhea."  Oy.

I must apologize to Maggie Mae, who has her hands full, for flipping out over my bone density results.  There are just those friends you can tell anything to.  It's all good...just a little osteoporosis... The nurse who called reminded me to walk and lift weights, which I do.  I said, "Maybe I need to eat more full fat ice cream."  She laughed and added, "and cheese cake!"  I like this nurse.

Yesterday would have been my mother's 87th birthday.  My sweet daughter asked how I was feeling.  "I'm ok.  You never know how things are going to hit you.  Mostly I was thinking about how I'd ride my bike into town to shop for her gift, arriving home in a sweat from the June sun, but happy to have her present in hand."  And I am reminded as I work on my book that there were many grey days. But, yesterday I thought of the brilliance of a happy summer day and sweet birthday memories.
