Arrived!

Yesterday we sat on the tarmac at JFK airport as storms roared through New England.  You hear about this on the news, passengers trapped feet from the gates, you just never think it's going to happen to you.

"The northeast routes have been closed due to bad weather so we are here, indefinitely," announced the pilot.

"What does that mean?  A day, a week?"  I asked Husband, panicked.  "And why don't they know this before we taxi away from the terminal?"  The flight attendant tried to ply us with drinks and food, walking up and down the aisles, more times than I can count.  As husband snoozed I hoarded water bottles, Blue Chips and nuts; I could have opened a concession stand.

I laughed as our fellow passengers devoured their snacks.  Rookies, I thought to myself.  The hyper vigilant side of me knew eventually the food would run out.  Finally, after what was surely hours, the pilot reported, "We are clear for take off." I applauded as Husband woke up."Honey we are finally getting out of here!" He looked at his watch, rather lackadaisical, "Well, two hours later than expected.  But we'll be in Maine in time for tea at the Inn," he smiled. I will admit I was Incredulous, "It's only been two hours?  That can't be right."

Maybe I overreacted, but we've got enough water and snacks to last us a week!
