Up Close and Personal!

While I ponder my next recipe...because you know there will be one...I've realized I might have
been helped out of my anxious stupor if I had more personal time with my people, in person. Certainly time spent with my delightfully delicious grandsons gets me out of my head. And a mother/daughter day is just the best medicine. And of course speaking your own truth helps. But, in all fairness to me, when you feel that sense of fear, the natural reaction is to hunker down.

And then yesterday this article appears in the paper. Jane E. Brody writes in the New York Times, "...what medical science has been increasingly demonstrating for decades: Social interaction is a critically important contributor to good health and longevity." Her article focuses on the lack of social interaction because our heads are buried in laptops and cell phones. There are cafes opening now that will no longer offer Wi-Fi so that customers can talk to each other. I so love that idea.

She goes on further to explain, "The emotional support provided by social connections helps to reduce the damaging effects of stress..."

Texting is not the same as face to face interaction. Excellent article Jane E. Brody. We shall all go out into the world and connect with actual face time, not of the cellular kind.
