Mindful Eating

It is no surprise to anyone who follows my blog that I absolutely love to eat.  And as anyone who is going through the slings and arrows of menopause, grappling with the change of metabolism, calorie consumption can become a bit of an annoying struggle.

I try to eat in a mindful way, (sometimes mindfully eating an entire bag of chips).  With that being said I had lunch at an organic vegetarian restaurant this past weekend.   I know, I can hear a collective groan, but it was truly wonderful.

We ordered an appetizer on raw crackers, smeared with a vegan spread (which tasted just like a soft goat cheese), a slice of fig, apple, honey and some red pepper flakes.  It was delicous.

I found similar crackers at Whole Foods and they are a perfect foil to my not so healthy chips.  And if you can't resist the comforting crunch and find the need to eat the entire package, it is only a total of 105 calories of healthy goodness.
