Birthday Dinner

Husband loves fried chicken, but avoids its consumption as much as possible.  He does talk about wanting to eat it, a lot.  I'm still abstaining.  And I'm not too comfortable with it in its raw state either.

So, what to do for his birthday dinner?  He should have fried chicken, and I knew where to get it, in a healthier baked version.  We tried it once and remarkably could not tell the difference.

On my ride home from picking up this birthday surprise, the car filled with an aroma that made me forget for a split second that I was not going to be sharing in this dish.

As I placed the chicken, ever so gently into a pan for reheating, still warm to the touch, some flaky crumbs fell right into the palms of my hand.  You can just imagine my surprise!  These crispy bits seemed to be purely flour and seasoning I reasoned.  It would be foolish to ignore the opportunity to taste test these morsels; quality control you know.  And like chips, it's hard to stop at just one crunchy bite!

Husband was so happy he did not seem to notice the missing golden patches scattered among the pieces on the plate!
