...talk about the power of suggestion. The phone rang this morning at 5:45 am. I shot straight up in bed, my heart racing. No good can come from a call this early. It was a police recording for a Silver Alert. Translated, a senior citizen was missing. A helicopter hovered overhead, it's searchlight flooding the bedroom.
Turns out a gentleman with Alzheimer's had been missing since last night. He was last seen in only a shirt, Depends diaper and brown sandals.
I went for my morning walk, looking behind bushes and trees. Police in cars and on foot were stationed throughout the area. So sad.
When I arrived home I checked our patio. Perhaps he was resting in a chair, or napping on a lounge with our cat. Empty. And then an email came through. Found, alive and well. I'm sure his family was relieved.
And here I thought nothing exciting could happen at home. Freaky, don't you think? Maybe I should use this power for something like, "I'm going to win the lottery tonight." Or, perhaps a whisper to the universe, "Publisher's Clearing House..." Hmmmm?
