...or my brothers.
Found out my sister walked home yesterday, in the cold after Shabbat services where my brother's attend. They have become very observant and don't drive during the Sabbath. Which is fine, no judging. Except they knew she was there, knew her ride home didn't show up and they know she lives quite a distance away. And they should know she will find them like a heat seeking missile will find it's target. She wants to be with family after all.
I would have picked up the phone, but there would be no answer. And so I began to seethe, rehearsing in my mind what I would say to them today. But, they would not have gotten "it." "It," being a concept I have previously deluded myself into believing they understood.
And so I explained to my sister she should make sure she has a ride ahead of time. Together we made a plan, one that keeps her safe and warm.
I am learning, slowly, to let go of my frustration and the things (or people), I cannot change. I have to remind myself I am different from them...and frankly, that's a really good thing.
