They say things happen in threes...

It's that been that kind of a day. It began as I backed out of the garage and hit the passenger side of my housekeeper's parked car.  Trust me when I say her car looks worse than mine.  And let me apologize for having a housekeeper, (I am less than comfortable having help; I tidy up before she gets here), and I expect little sympathy for my unfortunate accident.

She took it rather well, maybe because she watched it all happen.  Or as she explained, "I was looking out the window and it was like in slow motion...and I thought to myself, you are getting very close..."

I assured her we would take care of everything and I felt awful for the inconvenience this would cause her. She said when I pulled out half-way and stopped the car to bring the cat food in, (which I noticed was left out by the front door), I should have stayed inside, instead of going back out (which is when I hit her car).  "In my country, if you start something you have to finish, uninterrupted.  When you came in with the cat food you should have sat in a corner."  Hmmm...ok...

Then, the double whammy, which I think karmically, only counts as one. While checking in on Mother-in-law, who told me she's very alone and nobody cares about her, which is so not true, we got a call from our credit card company, alerting us to fraudulent activity from outside the country. Oy vey.

So, gingerly I tucked my car safely away in the garage and hunkered down, thinking about the events of the day.  No harm came to anyone, which I am eternally grateful for and maybe, just maybe these bumps in the road are a wake up call to stay diligent and avoid complacency in our day to day routines.

I've taken more than my share of showers when I ask myself, "Did I already wash my hair?
