I am so not a germaphobe...

I was talking with a friend the other day about travel, hotels, germs and the evolution of my hotel routine. First it was just "wear slippers at all times," and "never, ever, sit on the bedspread." My mother's rules.

I pack an arsenal of cleaning products, in easy to transport packages. Clorox Disinfecting Wipes and Wet Ones in particular are indispensable.

The first thing I do once on the plane is disinfect the arm rests, seats, belt buckles and tray. Friends of ours, world travelers and definitely not germaphobes, suggest I wipe off the air vents above the seats. They explained, you just don't know how many icky hands have been twisting and turning those knobs, spraying Lord knows what creepy, crawly, germs in your face. I really don't know how I let that one get by me.

Once we arrive to our hotel I disinfect the remote, doorknobs, light switches and drawers.

Who know what lurks under the pretenses of cleanliness. I've watched those 20/20 exposes on hotels.

And never leave your toothbrushes out. I don't even want to think what craziness could happen with that one.
