We are in Maine for a family vacation. We flew up yesterday, a six a.m. flight. Waking at three thirty is no easy feat. I'm lucky I remembered to roll on my deoderant and wear a bra.
I received an email and multiple texts that my sister-in-law gave birth early Sunday to a healthy baby girl. Their midwife sent them to the hospital instead of delivering at home, due to the statewide power outage in the northeast. Which of course meant my sister, who lives only five minutes from my brother is without power. I learned of all this by 4:00 a.m. Heading to the airport I am in worry mode. So, the great thing about all this technology is that you can be reached at any time of the night or day. The bad thing is that you can be reached at any time of the night or day.
Driving to the airport I was in a bit of a tizzy. By the time we arrived to our destination we appeared narcoleptic.
But, the magic of New England summers are open windows and falling asleep to the flutter of curtains in the breeze. You wake up a new person!
And it helps to know that my siblings electricity came back on.
