Face to Face

New research proves that face to face time, not, Skype or FaceTime, but actual, "You're so close I can touch you and perhaps smell your breath," prevents depression. This should not be a surprise to anyone. Yet, most of us have become so accustomed to phone, cell, or text "talking" that we have been lulled into believing we are connected. But are we?

You can be reached via cell phone while at the doctor's office, on a plane, train or automobile, at the hair salon, and yes, even the toilet. Some connection is better than none, but nothing can replace a hug, or a comforting hand on your shoulder. Which begs the question, are we relying too much on technology and becoming lazier in the process? I am not a lady who typically lunches, but, in light of these recent findings, I should try harder to put a date on the calendar. What about you?
